Start to Win ("the App") is a GPS-enhanced regatta start timer for competitive sailors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. We are committed to handling your data with respect and transparency.
The App is developed and operated by Miramar Vessels, based in Newport Beach, California.

Information We Collect
Location Data
The App requests access to your device's GPS location while the App is in use. This data is used exclusively to calculate distance and bearing to the start line during a regatta sequence. Location data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Optional Profile Information
You may optionally provide the following information to personalize your experience:
- Home sailing region (country and state/territory)
- Boat type(s) you sail
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms (UserDefaults). It is not automatically shared with us or any third party.
Advertising-Related Data
The App displays advertisements. To serve ads, third-party advertising networks may collect certain information from your device, including your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), IP address, general location, and interactions with ads. Whether this data is used for personalized advertising depends on the consent you provide when prompted by Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
Usage Data
We do not collect analytics or crash reports ourselves. We do not use first-party behavioral tracking.

How We Use Your Information
- GPS location is used in real time to display your distance to the start line and is not stored or transmitted.
- Optional home region and boat type data may be used to surface locally relevant content within the App.
- Optional profile data (home region, boat type) may be used to inform which advertisements are relevant to you.
- Advertising identifiers and related data are used by ad networks to deliver and measure ads, subject to your ATT consent.
We use your information only for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

Advertising & Ad Networks
In-App Advertising
The App contains advertisements served by third-party advertising networks. These networks help fund the App and allow us to offer it at no cost to users.
App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
In accordance with Apple's requirements, the App will prompt you to consent to tracking before serving personalized ads. If you allow tracking, ad partners may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to deliver ads tailored to your interests across apps and websites. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your activity outside this App.
What Ad Networks May Collect
Third-party advertising partners may independently collect:
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA), subject to your ATT consent
- IP address and approximate location derived from IP
- Device type, operating system version, and language
- Ad impression and click interactions within the App
Each advertising partner operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the policies of any network whose ads appear in the App.
Opting Out of Personalized Ads
You can withdraw or modify your tracking consent at any time. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and toggle off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" or manage Start to Win specifically. You can also reset your advertising identifier under Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.

Data Sharing & Third Parties
Outside of advertising networks described above, we do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Miramar Vessels, our users, or the public.
- With your explicit consent for a specific purpose disclosed at the time of collection.

Data Retention & Deletion
All data generated by the App — including your timer history, race logs, and optional profile settings — is stored locally on your device. Deleting the App removes all associated data from your device. We retain no copies on external servers.
If you wish to delete optional profile information without uninstalling, you can do so from the App's Settings screen at any time.

Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights under applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These rights may include:
- The right to know what personal information we hold about you.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell data).
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, most requests can be satisfied by clearing App data or uninstalling the App. For any additional questions about your rights, contact us at the address below.

Children's Privacy
Start to Win is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
